  中国联合国协会是中国唯一以支持和促进《联合国宪章》宗旨和原则为目标的全国性非政府组织，由热心联合国事务的公众和社会团体组成，理事包括资深外交官、著名学者以及关心联合国事业的企业家、社会活动家等。中国联协是联合国协会世界联合会（WFUNA）创始会员之一，是中国第一家获得联合国经济及社会理事会全面咨商地位的非政府组织，是联合国全球传播部（原新闻部）的联系会员，是与联合国建立咨商关系的非政府组织会议（CoNGO）的正式会员。中国联协的宗旨是弘扬《联合国宪章》宗旨和原则，普及联合国知识，促进对联合国组织及其活动的了解、研究和宣传，增进各国人民之间的了解、友谊和合作，为维护世界和平与共同繁荣发展而努力。
